Emacs TRAMP Mode

TRAMP stands for `Transparent Remote (file) Access, Multiple Protocol’. It allows editing files from remote machines in local Emacs instance. Just type:

C-x C-f /remotehost:filename RET (or /method:user@remotehost:filename)

It is possible to edit files as root using a slightly different syntax:

C-x C-f /su::/etc/hosts RET
